Is Keyser Construction licensed and insured?
Yes. Keyser Construction is licensed by the Oregon Construction Contractors Board under CCB #121142 and carries general liability and workers’ compensation coverage required of licensed residential contractors. Happy to send you a current insurance certificate when you ask.
How long have you been in business?
Since 1998. Brandan Keyser has been remodeling and building Portland-area homes for over 25 years. Many of our clients are repeat clients, and a number of our jobs come from referrals by people we worked with a decade or two ago.
Do you give free estimates?
For most projects, yes. We come out, walk the site with you, and put together a written estimate at no charge. For very large or design-intensive jobs (custom homes, complex additions, detailed kitchens with site-specific design), we may quote a small design fee up front and apply it to the project if you move forward.
What does a Keyser estimate actually include?
Scope of work, materials specs, labor, anticipated timeline, payment milestones, and a clear note on what’s specifically not included. Where pricing depends on selections you haven’t made yet (tile, fixtures, appliances), we include an allowance with a dollar figure so you know exactly where you have flexibility.
How long does a typical Portland-area remodel take?
Bathroom remodels run 3 to 6 weeks of active construction. Kitchens run 6 to 10 weeks. Whole-home remodels and significant additions run 4 to 8 months. New custom homes run 10 to 14 months from groundbreaking to certificate of occupancy. We give you a realistic week-by-week schedule with your estimate.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. We pull all required permits with the city or county and schedule every inspection. You don’t drive to the permit office. You don’t track inspection appointments. We do.
Do you do the design work, or do I need an architect?
For most kitchen, bath, and straightforward addition projects, we handle design in-house. For complex additions, second-story builds, and custom homes we work with architects and designers we’ve collaborated with for years, and we coordinate with them through the build.
Will you take on small projects?
For existing clients, yes. Our handyman service handles smaller repair and maintenance work for homeowners we’ve already built or remodeled for. For brand-new clients, we’re usually a better fit on larger projects. If a small project isn’t a fit for us, we’ll often refer you to someone we trust.
What cities do you serve?
Portland and the surrounding metro: Beaverton, Tigard, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Tualatin, Wilsonville, Sherwood, Oregon City, Happy Valley, Milwaukie, Gresham, and dozens of smaller cities and neighborhoods. See the full service-area list.
What’s your payment schedule?
For most projects we use milestone-based payments: a deposit at signing, progress payments tied to specific construction milestones, and a final payment after the punch list is complete and you’ve signed off. Specifics are written into your contract before any work begins.
How do I check your references?
We’re glad to share references on request. You can also read our verified client reviews on Google, Angi, and the BBB (A+ rating since 2007), look us up by name and CCB number on the Oregon CCB website, or search for us on Google.
