Going Up
At their home in Irvington, the Bouchers have asked Keyser Construction to work with them on multiple projects over the years including a major bathroom renovation an entire ADU (accessory dwelling unit) over their existing garage.

The bathroom renovation was for their master suite with custom tiled shower including bench and custom glass doors. Working within the existing footprint allowed them to stay on budget but have a completely remodeled space.

The ADU, a recent trend in the Portland metro market, removed the roof from the existing garage and built on a second story addition that included a full bathroom, kitchen and studio space with exterior access and a private laundry room located in the garage below. The Bouchers brought their architects design to us after it was completed and we were happy to get on board.

The elevated design included an exterior staircase leading to the living unit above with large windows, and a skylight directly above entry door. A covered walkway connects the new space with the existing home, fulfilling an ADU requirement and helping to merge the two spaces.

For finishes, the client chose LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring throughout and quartz counters in the kitchen. Both are known for being user friendly and were excellent choices for a space that would see a lot of use. They did use design to their best advantage in the bathroom though with multiple tile choices, stainless accessories and a barn door style shower door. Lowes cabinets were used throughout the space and work well with a murphy bed that allows flexible use of the space.
